The Community of Madrid enjoys long business hours. On the one hand, we find the shopping centers and fashion franchises that open continuously from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., although this can vary significantly from one venue to another. For their part, small shops usually start their activity around 10 a.m. and keep it up until 2 p.m., at which time they stop to eat. Around 5:00 p.m. they restart their activity that will last until 8:30 p.m.
As for the restaurants, they have quite extensive kitchen hours. Lunch is approximately between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. As for dinner, the kitchen usually opens around 8:30 p.m. until midnight or even 1 a.m. However, there are more and more establishments whose kitchen does not close in the afternoon and you can eat without being subject to a schedule . On the other hand, the bars and cafeterias have long hours since they open first thing in the morning (between 7 and 8 am) and close at the last minute (between 11 pm and 1 am, depending on each establishment).
Madrid has one of the best public transport networks. Buses, the metro and the commuter network allow you to travel around Madrid without having to resort to a private vehicle. Thus, the buses start operating at 6 am and end the service at midnight; while the metro extends it until 1.30 am. For their part, commuter trains run from 5 to 24 hours. In addition, there is a night bus service that runs from 12 midnight to 6 am, when the daytime services start operating again.
